For our container feeder vessels we are looking for candidates for the position of chief officer

As chief officer you are right hand of the Master and second in command on board the ship. You are in charge of the ship’s cargo, stability and deck crew.

Our shipping company

JR Shipping is a shipping company with a rich maritime tradition. Harlingen is our home port. Our organisation ashore, which coordinates and manages our fleet’s operations, is based there. The JR Shipping fleet comprises container feeder vessels and SeaZip offshore service and support vessels, and the charter sailing ship Clipper Stad Amsterdam. Approximately 30 maritime professionals work at the organisation ashore. Our crewing department is responsible for recruiting and selecting seamen and for the human resources policy in respect of the JR Shipping and SeaZip crew members.

As chief officer of JR Shipping we expect you to:

  • Take charge of the deck department and take care of all cargo- & stability related operations. Ensure deck maintenance is in most optimal condition.
  • Be responsible for, and ensure, an excellent performance of the vessel and deck crew by promoting the company culture.
  • Ensure safety- & environmental awareness, quality of work, take care for crew and teamwork.
  • Being a company’s representative and taking responsibility for a professional- & commercial cooperation with charterers and their servants.
